Checkers

Have you ever played checkers with someone who doesn’t know how to play? It can be a very frustrating experience. Especially when that person is 5.

A dozen donuts and a coffee cake for 3 bucks? Yes please.

Any other time I’ve been to a bakery outlet the prices aren’t that competitive with Walmart or the grocery store. However the one by our new house is awesome. Sure, we may be the youngest people to shop there and the cashier may be annoyed that we interrupted her 100th cigarette break of the day but I’m cheap. You can get name brand things for cheap and I’m all about that.

Our next stop in todays journey is the mall. Someone likes to play here and i like to come feel awkward. Today I surrounded by the stars of teen mom and the people who love Americas funniest home video (old people). One of the moms seemed to marvel at the fact that their baby drank from a bottle, I wasn’t impressed.

Remember when it would have been a better idea to buy Google stock with the proceeds from your idiotic Apple share sell off?

Yeah. That looked like a stupid thing to say 10 days ago. Today it looks like the worst advice ever.

After the egg was laid today, Google’s stock immediately plunged 10% (currently down 7.5%). Apple’s stock, meanwhile, hit yet another all-time high today (and briefly touched the $400 billion market cap).

But hey, at least Larry Page is super excited about something.

Loud toys

Dear people without kids,

One day you may have one or two running around and that is when I will return the favor by buying the loudest toys possible for your little darling. Sure, a piano that plays songs sounds like a great idea but when that piano only plays 5 songs it gets a little monotonous. Maybe you never planned on my kid having that piano for more than a year. You were wrong.

That’s my rant for the hour. On a different note, I should have purchased more shares of Bank of America. It’s been in a steady incline since I purchased.

My first official week as an “investor”

This week, well I bought a stock last week, but this week began my first official week if investing. I went with Sharebuilder as they were offering a free $50 after I made my deposit of 50.

Things aren’t going so well after my first day. I’m still worth more that the original that I deposited but both my stocks have lost money. I’ve invested in both Bank of America and Sprint. I figure both companies are large enough that they won’t go under. Bofa will always have the government to help them out and with sprint I figure that they will get bought out eventually. I just hope that the buy out price is higher than what I pay for the stock. I had thouht of mutual funds but most require the initial deposit to be more than what i have on my persons.

Being with Sharebuilder has made me want to switch all of my accounts over to ING. I already have a checking account that i fund from another bank but it would make things easier. I don’t feel obligated to stay with my bank as they aren’t offering me any great incentives to stay. I’m with them for the convenience of knowing that there is always a branch nearby.

This post may turn into a long one that has no real subject so I think I’ll rest for now, go have some coffee, and rest up for work.

What what?

Two posts in one day? I had a break coming up and thought I would see how difficult it was to post from my phone. So far things seem to be going ok however it would be nice to have a larger keyboard on my phone. Possibly that means I just need a phone with a larger screen? I work overnight shift so this will probably be my last post till sometime tomorrow afternoon. Maybe I’ll dream up a way to get followers with zero effort on my part.

Out

The first post is always the hardest.

When starting a blog (this is my 3rd attempt) the first post is the one that I have the most difficulties with.  I feel that I should convey some type of message to the readers, letting them know what to expect in the coming days, weeks, months, etc.  But more often than not, I let everyone down.  I’ll either forget about the blog, or as in my last case, I sold my blackberry and merely forgot to start blogging when I got to a personal computer.  I can’t seem to force myself to sit at a computer and type, but give me a phone and I can rant on and on and on for a good 10 minutes a day.  Luckily, my first post is from a computer.  I’ve made a decision to keep this blog going although I’m not too familiar with Tumblr. I hope that they have an android app or else this may be another failed attempt.
